How to Store Henry's Healthy Pet Foods

Your order of Henry's pet food will arrive freshly baked in an airtight resealable zip pouch. You should immediately place the bag in the refrigerator, and keep it refrigerated at all times. This will keep the food fresh for at least two months (remember, we do not use any preservatives). Many people prefer to store Henry's Healthy products in the freezer, especially during warm, humid conditions. Unopened bags can be stored in the freezer for several months.

How to Feed Henry's Healthy Pet Foods

Henry's Healthy Hamster Diet

Henry's Healthy Hamster Diet should be fed free-choice, either cold from the refrigerator or at room temperature. Make sure your pet has plenty of fresh, clean water at all times. Remove uneaten food from your pet's cage if it becomes wet or soiled.

Henry's Healthy Blocks for Squirrels and Flyers

Henry's Healthy Rat and Mouse Diet

Unlike most pet foods, Henry's Healthy diets for squirrels, flyers, and rats are not meant to be fed as 100% of the diet. In fact, they are designed to be fed along with a variety of healthy vegetables, wild foods, and occasional treats. This allows your pet to enjoy a variety of foods each day.

Just two Henry's Healthy blocks per day provide all the essential nutrients for an average-sized squirrel, flyer, or rat. The amount to feed can vary a bit depending on your pet's size, weight, age, and activity level. If your pet is larger or more active than average, he might eat 3-4 blocks per day.

You can feed the blocks cold from the refrigerator, at room temperature, or even warmed in a microwave for a few seconds. Some even enjoy eating Henry's Healthy Blocks frozen!

The blocks will stay fresh in your pet's cage or bowl for at least 24 hours. After that, you should remove uneaten food and replace them with fresh ones.

Special Tips for Feeding Picky Eaters (Squirrels and Flyers):

  • Clean out food stashes every day
  • Feed healthy foods in the morning
  • Avoid junk food, "people food" and sweets
  • If your pet won't eat healthy foods, he's not that hungry
  • When you give your pet a healthy food and he sets it aside, never go back to the kitchen to get something else for him. This is a bad habit that encourages picky eating.

Nutrition Fact:

Freshness is Important

Commercial rodent blocks spend weeks, months, or years on the shelf at room temperature, which can cause nutrient degradation. Because of this, many rodent blocks are manufactured with up to 400% of the minimum nutrient amounts. So the actual nutrient content of store-bought blocks can vary depending on how old they are. That's why every batch of Henry's Healthy Blocks is baked fresh and shipped by Priority Mail in a vacuum-sealed bag.
